How Does It Work?The HVAC smart chip utilizes a microprocessor module to control a unit’s system fan when engaged in output. In most cases, a fan will cease operating before it has a chance to distribute air that’s been either heated or cooled by a system. This air then dissipates unused, when it could have been dispersed within a home to improve temperature. This system keeps track of how long a unit has been in use, then uses this information to program fan operation. As a result, energy is used more efficiently, functionality is preserved, and a home can maintain a comfortable temperature throughout the year.
Heating vs. CoolingWhen it comes to operation, the HVAC smart chip can be used to regulate both heating and cooling systems:
• Heating – For most heating systems, fans run in low-speed mode. In this event, fan shut down occurs 90 seconds after the system turns off or once a core temperature has been reached. The smart system switches fans to high speed mode, which allows operation for up to eight minutes after a system has turned off.
• Cooling – Much like with heating systems, cooling unit fans only run for 90 seconds after a system turns off. Installing a chip will allow a cooling fan to operate until ducts are completely free of cold air.
